This paradise is 2000 sf of living space with 3BR & 2BA and 700 sf of covered wrap-around porch with a 3' overhang for plenty of outdoor living too! It is 3 story, including the 8'x8' lookout on top. This awesome place is wired for a generator, plumbed with 2BA from the 65' deep water well and has a 475 gallon propane storage tank that comes with the property. It has a septic tank and lateral lines. All sitting on 42.47 beautiful acres of fenced forest.
The only way to describe this place is the "Mansion in the Deep Woods". It is approximately 10 miles back into the woods sitting on 42.47 fenced acres, great for your horses. Secluded and very secure. One must go through several locked gates to get to it.
If peace & quiet are what you're looking for, this might be the place. Off grid living at its finest.
A 4-wheel drive may not be necessary to access this secluded haven, but it is definitely advisable.
When the owner of Eagle's Rest told me it was very secluded and we needed 4-Wheel drive to get back into the deep woods where it rests on the mountain, I was not prepared for the absolute beauty and solitude that I was about to experience.
There are no words to describe the feel of seeing Eagle's Rest for the first time. If I had to describe the sensation it would have to be "time stopped" or maybe "the world turned back in time".
The wonderful "Mansion in the Woods" was definitely a labor of love for the builder. It has all the rustic charm of a mountain chalet in the Alps.
The home sits on 42.47 beautiful acres of slightly sloping mountain for good drainage and is all fenced with steel t-posts and 5 strands of smooth pony wire. The acreage is simply beautiful with mature pine trees and hardwoods everywhere.
The 3 story "Mansion in the Woods" is a frame structure on pier and beam with rough sawed pine siding. One may enter Eagle's Rest ground floor through either of 2 front doors. One on the left enters the living room and the one that everyone uses enters a spacious window/sun room with views of the surrounding grounds.
The ground floor has the window/sun room, a big country kitchen than can use some updating and finishing with new appliances, a formal dining room, living room and the master bedroom with its own bath. There is a mantel and chimney in the living room for a wood burning stove. A propane radiant heater warms the living area.
The second floor is 14'x28' with a landing and 2 bedrooms. One bedroom is open to the landing and has a mantle and chimney for a wood stove. It would be easy to have a door installed for privacy if desired. Off the landing is a 5'x28' covered balcony that is perfect to catch the breeze on a lazy afternoon.
To access the 8'x8' lookout observatory third floor room, one must climb a substantial ladder and go through the trap door in the floor. Too cool! It has windows all around. In the summer, one can open the windows and the trap door acts like a chimney to create a draft and pull fresh air into the windows below. What a great design. It works like an attic fan but with a natural draft!.
This place can use a little T.L.C. here and there but it is in very good condition. A little sprucing up and furnished with your own special touches and it is distinctively your own.
This awesome prize is not for everyone, but the lucky new owners will know that Eagle's Rest is "one of a kind" and they are definitely among the "chosen few" who have chosen the "road less traveled".
