Karen graduated from East Central University, Ada, Oklahoma with a degree in marketing. She grew up in Murray County and graduated from Davis HS. Over 30 years ago, Karen married her HS sweetheart, who is a research scientist and AVID hunter. In the past, Karen has volunteered for a wide range of causes including 4-H, United Way, March of Dimes, Main Street Programs and Relay for Life to name a few.
